There all good compared to what we didnt have 20 years ago.
That said, i recommend apple products to my clients struggling with windows

apple generally are a bit more expensive (never buy the extended warranty, as you are apying for something they will do anyway)
but far easier to use.

i hear the current version of windows (8.x) is already obsolete, so dont buy a new windows anything
I like android for phones & my ASUS tablet
Buy Samsung if you can - they own the factories (even for iPhone components) & never put bad gear in their own brand
Their seconds turn up in other, previously well respected brands !

(I used HTC G1, Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 and Galaxy S3 and now using iPhone 5S.)

Android is a very nice platform and you can find any application you want for it very easily. In fact, Android is better for users know what they do but I don't think any vendor has done a very stable and fast hardware setup and optimized the OS for their hardware yet.

Especially when using Samsung devices (Even they have better and faster hardware.) Android stalls. For example: When you want to enter the phone book (When you tap on the icon of phone book at home screen.) The phonebook sometimes opens after 10 secs from tapping it. I didn't experience such thing with HTC's with original ROMs but when you are talking about Samsung I recommend you to think twice.

I am using this iPhone from January now on and I haven't experienced any latencies, stalls or anything else that drive a user crazy. (I confess, I did when I learned I couldn't use bluetooth for file transfer. This will be a "new" feature for iOS8.) It responses immediately even if you have tons of applications running on background. More stable and faster.

I purchased a Nokia Lumia 920 for my wife and this is also fast and stable and easier to use but has limited software support according to the others. Microsoft has a long road to compete with Android and iOS at the smartphone market.

In the end I still vote for iPhone but, I will vote for Android when a vendor will optimize their hardware and software nicely like Apple does... (Somehow, I think HTC will do this first.)

Take the amount of peripherals and applications you can use with Windows and with Apple. If you could plug three scanners and 7 mice to a PC and be able to run 23 programs on it, you'd probably have a stable and quick system as well :).

And Windows 8.x is not obsolete. My mother used a 10-years old PC along with 13-years old Win XP just half a year ago and it was completely sufficient for her needs. I myself use Windows 7 and do not see any need to upgrade.

It's a very outdated myth that peripherals don't work with Apple kit.

These days, protocols are pretty much set as 'industry standards' - almost nothing is completely proprietary any more.

Can't remember the last time I found something that didn't work properly with a Mac - I think it was some software for an old Sat. Nav. I wanted to update.
