Post Re: RIP Alfa 156
It's a sad state of affairs when I can't find an Alfa I'd want to own.

Obviously, still have the 75, but the 156 and derivatives are the last Alfas which really feel like they're a bespoke Alfa, rather than a posh Fiat.

The MiTo is too small, the Giulietta based on the ancient and not very good Fiat Bravo platform, and the 159 / Brera are based on the GM/Fiat large premium platform - which would have spawed a Saab variant, too, had GM not ditched the brand and dissolved the Fiat partnership.

It's a decent enough car - you feel a little detached at the steering wheel, but no more so than in a 159, but the engine is excellent - lots of power, everywhere.

It was £2.5k, which makes it a very cheap and comfy ragtop for K to enjoy this summer. It'll hopefully deter her from nicking the Porsche too often!

To save quoting a previous post +1, I do actually like these Saabs, although not sure i could pull off a convertible without feeling a tit.

However parked next to my 159, there is no comparison to be made in terms of styling.

I like to think of my 159 as a bridge, it looks nice inside and out, drives quite well and has a level of economy vs power that ticks all the boxes i need for commuting.

Then when they finally get around to releasing their new platform, i might have to go have a gander :D
