Post loss of first and second gear
Hi guys, I've looked at the posts here but cannot find anything relevant.
I was suffering with the "normal" second gear synco especialy when cold but now I've lost first and second all together.
Any Idea's before I get the gearbox sent away and how big would you expect the bill to be?

Thanks
H

Did you control the linkage? I had the same problem and it was something with the gear lever to gearbox linkages.

Can syncros totally fail?.

Id check linkage aswell, atleast that can be done right befor an eventual total removal.

I doudt it can be this.. But a few days ago a stone was caught in the area of the fancy pivot linkage thing near the gearbox, making it near impossible to shift gears. my borescope camera finally had an purpose ^^, as it was impossible to get my head up there to look, but maybe an small mirror would had done it aswell.

Most likely linkage. Mine was so sloppy, that it hit something in the tunnel before 2nd gear would engage, so it was not possible to engage it.

Btw. if you do take out the linkage - I highly recommend disassembling the shaft, especially taking out item nr.12 from the shaft and lubricating it, so that item nr.21 rotates freely.
On my 75, it was very hard to rotate item nr. 21 - this made finding gear 3 & 4 quite hard, because the linkage would not self-center in neutral. After disassembling and lubricating everything. the gearchange is improved substantially. although there is still some slop in the linkage.
